The 1953 Rhyl National Eisteddfod chair followed an original design by Ellis Berwyn Evans (first seen in Colwyn Bay 1947). It has carved arm supports and is upholstered in leather with a red dragon embossed on the back of the chair. It was donated by P T Trehearn of Rhyl and made from oak given by J R Gordon & Co, Chester.
The chair was awarded to Ernest Llwyd Williams for an ode on the theme 'Y Ffordd' (The Road).
