Woollen hooked mat made in 1889 by sea captain William George Owen of Lower Town, Fishguard, while at sea thinking of home and his wife, Letitia. William worked the words: HOME SWEET HOME | LETITIA | WILLIE | 1889 into his creative design. According to family history, Willie was ship-wrecked in the Strait of Magellan in 1888, but rescued the mat and completed it the following year.
